An initiative will be taken by the Bengal government to give special identity cards to migrant Bengalis and NRIs living abroad. This process has already started.
According to sources, the 'Amar Bangla' card will be issued for migrant Bengalis and Indians. NRIs can easily attend various business conferences of the state through this card. The state is giving more priority to overseas Bengalis as many Bengalis living abroad want to do something for the state.
According to a source in the state administration, the government believes that starting the process of issuing special identity cards to these migrant Bengalis and Indians in full swing will encourage foreign investment in the state. The 'Amar Bangla' card will have all the details of the NRI. Apart from the passport number, they will also be given a separate registration number. Apart from this, the country in which he is a resident will also be mentioned.
The state government is also going to launch a portal named 'Amar Bangla'. Overseas Bengalis and Indians can register themselves there through this portal and apply for the card from there. The identity card will be made only after registering the name with all the personal information on the portal.
According to administration sources, along with the launch of the portal, a special help center will also be launched. The state government also has special tourism schemes for overseas Bengalis and Indians. They will also be given priority in participating in various events. The state government is now giving priority to investment and employment. After presenting the budget in the state assembly, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was also heard saying, “This is an employment-oriented budget. Boys and girls of the state will get employment from this budget."
